Welcome to this week’s addition of TheJudge13 #F1 Bar Exam

Last week’s question(s): Can you name the manufacturer of the car in the picture below and the team owner(s). Can you also name the team name and one key engineer that is well known today that worked as part of the team that designed the car. Lastly, which well known racing driver drove the car?

The answer(s) I was looking for were: The car in the picture was the FORCE THL1 and was manufactured by a company called FORCE or Formula One Race Car Engineering, and powered by a Hart 415T turbocharged inline 4 engine.

Team owners were Carl Haas and former McLaren owner Teddy Mayer. The latter aided the team in setting up their base,purchasing a disused factory in Colnbrook, England, and establishing the company Formula One Race Car Engineering (FORCE). The FORCE base housed the team’s designers, led by former Williams engineer Neil Oatley, and included an up-and-coming designer in Formula One, Ross Brawn.

Carl Haas was the official importer for Lola to the USA and as such entered the 1985 season under the constructor name of Lola although they were not affiliated with the latter in any way.

Former Australian World Champion Alan Jones came out of retirement to race for Team Haas although not even champion pedigree could drag a woeful car to any real competitive results in the two years the team competed.
