9 down, and only 10 to go; we are almost into the second half of the season already.  Where has the time gone?  Anybody in a time warp would probably say little has changed though.  Vettel still leading the WDC and Alonso hot on his heels, it seems 2013 will be the same pantomime, just slightly different regulations.

So what is it that keeps us coming back?  It certainly cannot be the theatre feel of Formula One.  The call of “He’s behind you” would almost always go to Kimi Raikkonen or Fernando Alonso.  Although, judging by the crowds’ reaction at Silverstone the previous week, Sebastian Vettel is the pantomime bad guy.

Anyhow, it is now the time to review how we all faired in with predictions.  For those who have not yet taken a peek, it was weekend of widespread change.

On the Up

Canuck F1 moved up 4 places to 4^th position in the league.  The midfield was a hard one to predict, but Webber had been predicted for 7^th on here.  Few would have predicted that after the flying start for the Aussie, but Canuck F1 had seen it coming.

SomersGP moved up 15 places to a respectable 22^nd place.  Predicting 3 of the top 4 correctly aided the cause.  The team is now towards the latter end of the chasing pack.

One to Forget

It was a poor weekend for TJ13 racing, down 8 places.  The faith shown in the Mercedes GP team tyre degradation was misplaced.  Furthermore, there was the decision to place Mark Webber ahead of Sebastian Vettel.  Barring retirements, when did this last happen?

MC74 suffered the biggest loss of the weekend, down 13 places.  Only 3 sections where points were scored meant a low scoring weekend.  None of these were outrageous choices, but it has to be put down to pot-luck on the tyres.  They were a lottery!

Non-movers

RustylestyRacing was the only non-mover on first page, remaining in 15^th position.  23% accuracy was a respectable, with the unfortunate choice of a Mercedes double podium.  Still, it could have been worse.  At least no places were lost.

Nobody saw it coming

The demise of the Force India was a shame.  For a team on a small budget, they have done so well up until now. It seems mighty unfair that after building the 2013 car well, they are now being forced to redesign it to the new tyres.  Many people had kept the faith with their selections, but were not rewarded.

Food for thought

The tyre lottery is set to continue with the new compounds (yet again) being taken to Hungary.  With Mercedes being excluded, the RBs look like the most sensible choice for taking big points.  However, who will take the fight to them is a mystery.  Much will depend on the track temperature, but it is likely to be the Lotus’.

Last question’s answer

The question was: Where and when was the last British GP held, that was not at Silverstone?  Furthermore, who won it and in what car?

Answer: The British GP was held at Brands Hatch in 1986.  To the delight of the home fans, Nigel Mansell won it in his Williams-Honda to take the lead of the Championship on 47 points.  Mansell did not win that year, as I’m sure many will remember why.
