The #F1 Bar Exam: 27 June 2013

Welcome to another week of the TJ13 Bar Exam and thank you to everyone who has been taking part over the last couple of months.

Last week’s question(s)Can you name the car in the picture, who raced it and how many Grand Prix Championship races was won in it.

The answer(s) I was looking for was: The car is a Brabham BT34 (only one ever built) as raced by Graham Hill. The Brabham BT34 was raced in 1971 and 1972 by Graham Hill, Carlos Reutemann and Wilson Fittipaldi Junior. The car never won a championship race however Graham Hill did take a victory at the BRDC International Trophy held at Silverstone in 1971 and Carlos Reutemann won a (non-Championship) Brazilian GP at Interlagos in it on 30 March 1972, having qualified it 2nd.

Sadly this was also the last Formula One race Graham Hill won.

One of our entrants gave me this bit of of interesting information. “Wilson Fittipaldi clearly developed a fondness for the car and he purchased it for the private collection he owns with his brother, where I believe it still resides.” Thank you Douglas!

Well done to Douglas, Oliver, Lars, Tony, JJPM, Doug, Simon, Cassius and Phil. Keep it up guys!

This week’s question(s): Can you name the Grand Prix and circuit at which the photo below was taken. Can you also name the winner (and his team) for this race.
